Door Frame Metal Detector
A Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD) is a metal detector fitted in a door to detect metal hidden by the person passing through this door. It is also known as a “walk through” metal detector. This scanning security system is used at places like prisons, malls, railway stations, private and public offices and airports to detect concealed metal weapons on a person’s body.
DFMD produces an alternating current that passes through a coil which produces an alternating magnetic field. When a person passes through the detector by hiding metal inside his clothes, the electrically conductive metal is close to the coil and the currents will be induced in the metal. It will produce a magnetic field of its own.
Nowadays, the technical change in metal detectors was the development of the induction-balance system. This system comes up with two electrically balanced coils. When metal is introduced in the surrounding, they would become unbalanced. The metal detectors separate between metals so that every metal has a different phase when exposed to alternating current.
